Pantelleria, called the Black Pearl of the Mediterranean Sea, is an extraordinary place. Volcanic landscapes, rocky coastline, stone dammuso houses, crystal sea. Amazing calm, aroma of aromatic herbs, green vineyards and relaxed atmosphere. A place for those who are looking for a vacation outside the famous resorts and want to escape from everyday life.
An Italian-African marriage
The location of the island itself is quite unique. It is only 70 km from the African coast and 110 km from Sicily. On the southernmost Italian island with an area of about 83 km², you can find natural basins with perfectly clean water, hot springs with therapeutic properties and even natural saunas. One of its most beautiful corners is the volcanic lake - the Mirror of Venus. Pantelleria is also a great place to learn to dive and there are numerous diving schools here.
Vineyards, oregano and capers
The mild and sunny climate of the island favors the cultivation of vines. The most esteemed wine on the island is Passito, made from dried sweet grapes. Pantelleria is also famous for its delicious capers and oregano, with exceptional taste and aroma.
The culinary side of Pantelleria
Pantelleria's cuisine is simple and tasty, with apparent Arabic influences. Typical dishes include couscous with seafood, as well as braised vegetables with herbs, washed with delicious local wines.
