The synonym for luxurious holidays, it has been able to take care of its tourist image. Elegance and class. The phenomenon of Sardinia can be understood only by getting to know her personally. The sandy beaches, rugged cliffs, fabulous coves, islets, and above all the amazing emerald colour of the crystal clear sea are undoubtedly the most important advantages of the island.
Sardinia boasts a rich past which impressive testimony are the remains of the Nuragic civilization. More than 7,000 nuraghes have survived - megalithic structures in the shape of a truncated cone, which to this day intrigue scientists. Sardinia fascinates by its original ceremonies, folklore, dialect and cuisine based on local products. The most developed tourist destination is the northern part of the island with the famous Costa Smeralda, or the Emerald Coast. The region gets its name from the extremely intense, even hypnotising colour of the sea. The varied coastline with rock formations, hills that descend straight into the sea, Mediterranean vegetation, and crystal clear water create unique landscapes. The famous Sardinian beaches are often intimate and always very picturesque, hidden in small coves. Therefore, many of them are perfectly suited for kids: the crystal clear water, sand and gentle descent into the sea makes for great conditions for beach fun for the youngest tourists. The most famous resort of Costa Smeralda is Porto Cervo - a favourite destination of celebrities from all over the world, an idyllic town with a large marina, overlooked by the Church of Stella Maris. In Baia Sardinia by Arzachena Bay there is Aquadream waterpark, and the famous disco Ritual nearby. To the south of Costa Smeralda is the well-known resort of Porto Rotondo, which name comes from the round shape of the port. The focal point of the town is the piazza with boutiques, cafes and restaurants. In the area there are many beaches, including the famous Marinella, known to enthusiasts of watersports. To the north of Costa Smeralda is the popular resort Palau with wonderful beaches and rocky islets emerging from the crystal sea. The symbol of the city is Orso - a natural rock form at an altitude of 122 m, closely resembling a bear looking out to sea. From Palau you can go on a cruise around the gorgeous islands of the La Maddalena archipelago, with unspoilt beaches. When spending a holiday in Sardinia, it is definitely worth tasting the local wines, which are considered to be some of the best in Italy: for example, the fine white wines Vermentino di Gallura or the strong red Cannonau, great accompanied by traditional Sardinian dishes.
