See offer

Valmeinier - Valloire is situated at the foot of Col du Galibier, on the border of the Northern and Southern Alps, between 3 Valleys and the Italian border. Ski area is a combination of trails and a system of ski lifts in the destination of Valmeinier and Valloire. Valmeinier consists of an older part: Valmeinier 1500, a mountain village with traditional houses, and a newer part: Valmeinier 1800, which is a modern resort that blends in nicely with the surrounding mountains. There are many residences here which architecture alludes to traditional Savoyard designs, with wood and stone, which offer apartments of different types with fully equipped kitchenettes. Many of them have a ski in/out position, which means that you can ski down the slope practically to door of the residence. In the village there are quite a few restaurants, bars, cinemas and shops. The origins of Valloire date back to the 17th century, it is a resort oriented mainly towards the family, with the authentic atmosphere of a French mountain village. In Valloire, in January, there are international competitions in sculpture in ice and snow. For 3 days and 3 nights snow blocks with dimensions of 4 m x 4 m are enlivened by sculptors from all over the world. In Valloire there are also two snowparks: Galibier Thabor and Lac de la Vielle, the first of which is addressed to advanced skiers. The dynamic development of Valmeinier came at the end of the 1980s, when new ski lifts joined the slopes Valmeinier and Valloire, creating a new ski area with more than 150 runs, located in the sunny Maureinne Valley, at an altitude of 1430-2600 m above sea level. Many trails run over 2000 m. There are 33 ski lifts here: 13 T-bar lifts, 17 chair lifts and 2 cable railways.
Winter sports, aside from snowboarding and skiing, include: tours on snowshoes, dog sledging (specialty of the region), off-piste runs, cross-country skiing with approx. 15 km of beautiful scenic trails.
