Cortina, located at approx. 1200 m a.s.l., called the Queen of the Italian Dolomites, is a famous and prestigious ski resort, a traditional holiday destination for the elites and celebrities from around the world. 

Skiing is a long tradition, and Cortina has gained its international fame due to phenomenal skiing conditions and its beautiful location. The popularity of the resort was raised also by the Winter Olympics, which were held here in 1956. Ski areas lie at an altitude of 1224-3243 m a.s.l., and the season lasts from December to Easter. There is a total of approx. 100 trails, approx. 140 km long, with 37 ski lifts that operate on them: 5 cable railways, 27 chairlifts and 5 T-bar lifts. The trails are varied in terms of difficulty, and brilliantly prepared. Approx. 75 km of trails are supplemented with artificial snow.

Cortina has trails that are suitable for families with children, there are many ski schools, ski rentals. The main ski resorts of Cortina are: Tofane, Faloria and Cristallo which are not connected, but you can get to them by skibus. Here are the legendary trails to Tofana, as the famous Statofana initiated during the Olympics, Forcella Rossa and Canalone Staunies on Cristallo. The longest downhill run is the intermediate trail Lagazuoi-Armentarola, which is 7.5 km long, elevations difference is 1100 m. In the region of Tofana, in Socrepes, there is a snowpark which is approx. 500 m long, divided into an Easy Line and a Medium Line. 

Cortina has a nice centre with shops, galleries, bars and restaurants. There are also a few well-know discos: Hyppo, Metro, The Limbo and many others, which are teeming with life to the late hours, as well as on the Olympic stadium, there is an ice-skating rink, where a disco on ice is organised: Disco Dance. Cortina is a place of many events, including: FIS Alpine World Cup, International Polo on Snow Competition, European Boardercross Cup, or the Christmas fair in the centre. The ski areas of Cortina d'Ampezzo are part of the area of Dolomiti Superski.

Insurance: as of 1 January 2022, every individual using the ski slope is required to purchase liability insurance for accidents on ski slopes. The verification of the insurance takes place on the basis of presenting the insurance certificate or policy number. Lack of insurance policy shall result in cancellation of the ski pass and a fine in the amount of EUR 100-150. The price of the event includes the Itaka Simple insurance, which does not cover liability insurance for amateur practicing of high-risk sports. Purchasing Itaka Complex, Itaka Prestige or SKI&SPORT insurance, which can be added to the booking at any time prior to the beginning of the event, is tantamount to compliance with the above requirement.
