Haiti - a country in the heart of the Caribbean, together with the Dominican Republic it shares the island formerly known as Hispaniola. For more than 400 years it has been known as the Pearl of the Caribbean, it is famous for its pristine beaches, turquoise waters and great conditions for watersports.
For all enthusiasts of diving, there is a beautiful coral reef a short distance from the coast. The basis of the economy of Haiti is the cultivation of sugar cane and the Barbancourt Distillery produces one of the most sought after varieties of rum in the world. Haiti is a place that is still mysterious, where you can not only spend time on the beach but also admire the colonial buildings, impressive castles and fortresses, magnificent waterfalls, and even take part in voodoo ceremonies.
Pilot: tourists are looked after by a Polish resident, whose tasks include help upon arrival, departure and stay, as well as registration for local trips.
Visas: citizens of the Republic of Poland can stay on the territory of Haiti without a visa for up to 90 days. Passport must be valid a minimum of 6 months from the date of return to the country.
Flight duration: Wroclaw-Port-au-Prince - approx. 13 hours (stopover in the Azores).
Local time: GMT minus 4 hours.
Language: French, communication in English also possible.
Currency: Haitian gourde (HTG); 1 USD = approx. 65 HTG; 1 EUR = approx. 70 HTG.

Tips: the rule applies that you give as much as you can afford. It is a custom to tip waiters, barmen (approx. 5-15%), chambermaids and porters.
Local trips: organised by local tourist agencies on terms specified by them. There is a possibility, that if there are too few participants, a trip may be cancelled.

Voodoo ceremony - the basis of voodoo are the beliefs and rituals of African origin. During the ceremony you enter a mystical world and witness a traditional voodoo ritual in a mesmerizing show. Price - approx. 78 USD; appropriate attire recommended (men - long trousers and shirts, women - long trousers or long skirt), insect repellent; only for people over the age of 16.
Montrouis (walking tour) - an excellent opportunity to observe the authentic life in Haiti. Walk around Montrouis, discovering old factories from colonial times, a visit to the market in the heart of the city. Then passage to the Museum of Ogier Fombrun - one of the few former sugar cane plantation that has survived to this day. Along the way, admire the exotic landscapes. Palace of Sans-Souci and the Citadel La Ferriere - the fortress in northern Haiti is the largest in the western hemisphere and probably the most important historical place in the country. It is located on the top of a hill overgrown with tropical vegetation in the area of the National Historical Park La Citadelle. Along with the nearby Sans-Souci palace it has been entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The trip to the fortress takes approx. 30 min, on horses via a mountain road (with the help of an assistant). Jacmel & Blue Lagoon - a trip to the town of Jacmel, located in a beautiful bay. The city played an important role in the history of the country, it is also the birthplace of poets, musicians, artists, painters, writers and intellectuals. Then drive to Bassin Bleu (Blue Lagoon), enjoy wonderful views of the bay and the city. A walk to the Bassin Bleu waterfall. The cascading waters form three lagoons of which Bassin-Clair (Clear Lagoon) is the most spectacular. Unforgettable swimming session in the blue waters of the lagoon. Port-au-Prince - travel to the capital of Haiti through areas that were severely affected by the earthquake in 2010, walk through the renovated part of the market, free time for shopping of Haitian art and crafts.
