Description
1. DAY. Meeting of participants at the airport. Flight to Funchal. Transfer to the hotel. Depending on the time of arrival: free time, dinner, overnight.
2. DAY. FUNCHAL - PICO DOS BARCELOS Breakfast. Visiting FUNCHAL, the capital of Madeira. Ascent to the PICO DOS BARCELOS viewpoint (355 m above sea level), from where you can admire a wonderful panorama of the city. Walk: around the port, the 15th-century Manueline cathedral, the Parliament building of Madeira, the citadel of St. Lawrence. A visit to the famous The Old Blandy Wine Lodge, founded by John Blandy, who started the wine tradition that continues on the island. Getting to know the production process and history of Madeira wine. Tasting the unique Madeiran wine, which owes its unique taste, inter alia, to aging in oak barrels. A visit to the famous city market, Mercado dos Lavradores, the most colorful part of the city. Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight stay.
3. DAY. FUNCHAL - MONTE HILL Breakfast. Optional (for an extra charge on site): excursion to the center of the island. Cable car ride over the rooftops of Funchal to the MONTE HILL. Sightseeing: the sanctuary of Our Lady, tropical garden with relict and endemic vegetation of Madeira. For those willing (for an extra charge on site): crazy wicker sledge ride. A picturesque mountain road leads to the heart of Madeira, where from the panoramic terraces of the Eira do Serrado you can admire the magnificent view of the mountain chasms. Lunch break. Transfer to a secluded village in the Nun's Valley and tasting the local specialty - chestnut liqueurs. The route then continues to the Camara de Lobos, a typical fishing village, Winston Churchill's favorite spot. Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight stay.
4. DAY. FREE TIME Breakfast. Rest at the hotel or participation in optional trips. Dinner, overnight.
5. DAY. ACHADA DO TEIXEIRA - PICO RUIVO Breakfast. Transfer to the starting point of the walking tour. The trail starts in ACHADA DO TEIXEIRA and is entirely located in the area covered by the Natura 2000 program. Unique plants grow here with exceptional resistance to extreme weather conditions, such as woody heather. Most of the trees growing here date back to the period before the island's discovery in 1419. The trail gives you the opportunity to see the beautiful, central mountain range of Madeira. Climbing PICO RUIVO (1862 m a.s.l.) - the highest peak of Madeira, compensates for all the effort, and the views stretching from it are breathtaking. Under favorable weather conditions, you can see almost the entire island, as well as the Atlantic. When trekking, you have the extraordinary sensation of walking on clouds. Trekking route: approx. 6 km, walking time: approx. 3 hours Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight stay.
6. DAY. LEWADA TO FURADO - RIBEIRO FRIO - WAWRZYNOWY FOREST - PORTELA Breakfast. Transfer and start of the Levada trekking to FURADO, which is one of the oldest levadas. Levadas are a network of narrow water channels, characteristic of Madeira, which transport rainwater from the north to the south of the island, along with hiking trails. The route begins at RIBEIRO FRIO in the municipality of Santana at an altitude of 860 m above sea level. On the route, the several million-year-old WAWRZYNOWY FOREST - this is a unique and protected place, entered on the UNESCO list. Only three places in the world have survived this type of forest. The trees are evergreen and have an extremely intense fragrance. There are endemic species of plants and animals here. On the way, the amazing landscape of the Ribeiro Frio valley. Continue trekking along the levada to Furado. The hike ends with a descent to the village of PORTELA. Lunch in the program. Trekking route: approx. 11 km, walking time: approx. 5 hours Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight stay.
7. DAY. FREE TIME Breakfast. Rest at the hotel or participation in optional trips. Dinner, overnight.
8. DAY. Depending on the time of departure: breakfast, free time, transfer to the airport and flight to Poland. For people who extend their stay by a week's rest: breakfast, check-out, transfer to the airport, transfer to the selected hotel.
