Local excursions
Gibraltar — it is a peninsula of the length of only 6 km It is perceived as one of the most strategic points in the world, and - as a duty-free zone - it is ideal for shopping. Take a minibus ride around the city and drive up the Rock of Gibraltar, from where there is a wonderful view of the Strait of Gibraltar and the Atlas mountains on the African continent. On the rock a stop at Europa Point and St. Michael's Cave, as well as an opportunity to see unusual monkeys - Gibraltar macaques. Then free time for a meal and shopping in the duty-free zone. Day trip. Price - approx. 79 EUR.
Seville — a coach ride to Seville. Starting a sightseeing from a drive along the Maria Luisa Park and pavilions built for the Ibero-American Exposition in 1929. Visit to the Spain Square - a palace and garden complex with ceramic decorations, which is a flagship of the city. Free time for taking photos. Then, a walk along the old Jewish quarter of Santa Cruz, full of picturesque alleys, and a visit to the Gothic cathedral. Free time for lunch, shopping or further sightseeing (2.00 - 5.00 p.m.). It is worth seeing Alkazar - the royal palace, which is an excellent example of mudéjar style architecture with beautiful gardens, richly decorated halls and original ornaments. Next to Alkazar there is the Main Archive of India (free entrance) and bullfight arena. You can also take a one-hour cruise on the Guadalquivir River or a carriage ride through the old town. Shopping in Seville — drive to Seville and stop at the Golden Tower located on the bank of the Guadalquivir River. The building used to function as a chapel and a prison, today it houses the Maritime Museum. Free time for sightseeing and shopping (6 hours). It is worthwhile to see the main monuments of Seville, such as the Cathedral of Saint Mary - the largest and one of the most magnificent Gothic churches in the world, the Royal Palace of Alkazar with beautiful gardens and charming corners, the old Jewish quarter of Santa Cruz. It is also worth seeing the Spain Square, which is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the city and was the scenery of films such as "Lawrence from Arabia" or "Star Wars". In the footsteps of Columbus — of all the places in Spain, Christopher Columbus chose Costa de la Luz to plan his trip to India. For several years he lived in a 15th-century Franciscan monastery, La Rabida, where the only figurine of Our Lady crowned by Pope John Paul II in all of Spain is located. From the nearby Palos de la Frontera, Columbus set out on his three ships to conquer the New World. 1:1 replicas of the ships: Santa Maria, Pinta and Nina can be admired in the Marine Museum, where there is also a miniature of Palos village and the island which Columbus' crew saw as the first. Algarve — drive to Portugal over a bridge built on the River Guadiana towards Loulé. A visit to the popular city bazaar, the chapel of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a walk around the medieval Castle. Then visit to the village of Albufeira, a former fishing village and now the tourist capital of the region. Free time for a meal, shopping or sunbathing. On the way back a visit to Vila Real de Santo António, a town considered to be a "shopping paradise". Huelva — a panoramic tour of the center of Huelva, during which you will be able to see the most important places, streets and monuments of the city, such as the cathedral, university, the English district of Queen Victoria, or the old Casa Colón hotel. Andalusian traditions — the trip begins with a visit to one of the best in the area husbandry of fighting bulls and hot-blooded Andalusian horses, where you can admire these amazing symbols of Andalusia from up close. Then, a drive to the bodega, where the local delicacy Vino de Naranja is produced - an orange wine, wine tasting. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon, a visit to the town of El Rocio with the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Rocio - the destination of one of the most important religious pilgrimages in Spain, which was also visited by Pope John Paul II in 1993.
