Interesting optional events are an excellent supplement to the program. The trip ends with a short relaxation in Antalya - a seaside resort. 1. DAY. ANTALYA Collection of participants at the airport. Direct flight to Antalya. Transfer to the hotel. Depending on the time of arrival: free time, dinner and overnight.
2. DAY. KONYA - CAPPADOCIA (route: approx. 540 km) Breakfast. Checking out. Transfer to KONYA, one of the most religious and conservative towns in Turkey, where the order of dancing dervishes was established. Visiting the museum of Mevlana - the founder of the order. Transfer to CAPPADOCIA. Visiting the underground city - a labyrinth of caves that were a refuge for persecuted Christians. Optional (with an extra charge on site): Dervish ritual dance show. Transfer to the hotel, accommodation, dinner, overnight.
3. DAY. CAPPADOCIA Breakfast. Optional (extra charge on site): hot air balloon flight over Cappadocia and the chance to admire the fairy-tale landscape of Cappadocia from above. Visiting the rock-carved early Christian churches in the Zelve and Goreme valleys. A visit to the regional pottery center and a demonstration of making red clay pottery. Return to the hotel. Optional (extra charge on site): "Turkish Night" with snacks and wine, organized in one of the Cappadocia caves. Return to the hotel, dinner, overnight stay.
4. DAY. HATTUSAS - AMASYA (route: approx. 400 km) Early breakfast. Checking out. Transfer to the imposing capital of the Hittites - HATTUSAS. Visiting Yazilikaya - a sanctuary with magnificent galleries of bas-reliefs with figures of the gods from the Hittite pantheon. Transfer to AMASYI - the ancient capital of the kingdom of Pontus with wonderful examples of Seljuk and Ottoman architecture, where the great geographer and historian Strabo was born. Visiting the rock tombs of the Pontic kings carved into the cliff face. Transfer to the hotel, accommodation, dinner, overnight.
5. DAY. TRABZON (route: approx. 450 km) Breakfast. Checking out. Drive east along the picturesque northern coast of Turkey, which enchants with its amazing landscapes. This part of Turkey is also known for growing tea. Transfer to TRABZON, an ancient port on the Black Sea. Tour the famous 13th-century Hagia Sophia Church atop a seaside cliff, decorated with beautiful mosaics and frescoes. Transfer to the hotel, accommodation, dinner, overnight.
6. DAY. TRABZON - ERZURUM (route: approx. 300 km) Breakfast. Checking out. Visiting the Sumela Monastery in TRABZON, one of the biggest attractions on the Black Sea coast. The imposing monastery, carved out of the rock ledge above the Altindere Valley, is dedicated to the Black Madonna. For centuries, its icon, famous for its miracles, attracted crowds of pilgrims. According to legend, an icon made by St. Luke. Transfer to Erzurum, the winter capital of the region, the highest city in Turkey (1950 m above sea level). 7. DAY. ERZURUM - ANI (route: approx. 210 km) Breakfast. Checking out. Visiting the ERZURUM: The Great Mosque of 1179 and the main attraction of the city - the Medersa of the Two Minarets. Transfer to ANI - the former capital of the Armenian kingdom. Visiting the ruins of a medieval city with magnificent monuments of church and defense architecture. Transfer to the hotel, accommodation, dinner, overnight.
8. DAY. DOGUBEYAZIT - LAKE VAN - ISLAND OF AKDAMAR (route: approx. 520 km) Early breakfast. Checking out. Drive along the border with Armenia to DOGUBEYAZIT, a small town located near the border with Iran, from where you can admire a fantastic view of the highest mountain in Turkey (5,222 m above sea level), on the top of which, according to legend, the Noah's ark settled. Visiting the fancy Ishakpasa Palace from the 18th century, a picturesque complex that includes a mosque, fortress and palace. Drive along the border with Iran over the Tendürek hill. A stop at a vantage point with the beautiful Muradiye Waterfall flowing into LAKE VAN - the largest inland water body in Turkey and one of the highest lakes in the world. Transfer to Van - a city with a rich history, where, according to legend, the biblical Eden was to be located. A cruise to the ISLAND OF AKDAMAR and a visit to the church from the 10th century - one of the most beautiful examples of Armenian architecture. 9. DAY. MARDIN (route: approx. 400 km) Breakfast. Checking out. Transfer to MARDIN with picturesque terrace buildings. Walk through crowded streets and oriental bazaars. Visiting the Saffron Monastery, founded in the 5th century, which was in the past the seat of the patriarchs of the Syrian Orthodox Church. Transfer to the hotel, accommodation, dinner, overnight.
10. DAY. URFA (route: approx. 270 km) Breakfast. Checking out. Drive to URFA, the city of prophets and a pilgrimage destination that dates back 3,500 years. According to tradition, the prophet Abraham was born here and the biblical Job lived for some time. Visiting the temple complex with the madrassa, mosque and Abraham's cave, where probably the prophet was born. Optional (with an extra charge on site): visit to Göbekli Tepe, the archaeological site where a 12,000-year-old temple was discovered. 11. DAY. MOUNTAIN NEMRUT - EUFRAT (route: approx. 370 km) Breakfast. Checking out. Drive to the area of MOUNTAIN NEMRUT, which rises to a height of 2,150 m above sea level, at the top of which are massive stone heads, one of the most recognizable monuments of eastern Turkey, recognized as the eighth wonder of the world. This monument, unique on a global scale, has been entered on the UNESCO list. Ascend Mount Nemrut by minibuses and a short hike to enjoy an unforgettable view. Optional (with an extra charge on site): cruise on the EUFRAT River, one of the two rivers of ancient Mesopotamia. After the construction of the Ataturk Dam, the river flooded the surrounding villages, the remains of which can be seen from the deck of the ship.
